Fender have released a new signature Tele. I think it looks great but the slim neck might not suit.

I don't think I have seen TBX on a Tele previously.

Looks lovely. Not been autographed by BB King, etc though :-(
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

It's a bugger getting dead people to sign guitars you know ... dedicated bits of the production line with Oujia boards are expensive to maintain :-)

In all seriousness it's a bloody good thing to start getting more recognition for female guitarists in the blues field rather than just endless homages to Joe Massiveboner

Does look like a gorgeous guitar and she is definitely worthy of a sig model.

I don’t personally see it being a big seller.

It would be cheaper to get an old American Standard and replace the scratchplate, wouldn't it?

    The
“indispensable TBX tone control” bit made me chuckle

Carribean Mist is always a killer colour choice though

I had to look up Caribbean Mist ... and now I realise it's the colour of a cocktail ... I was thinking I'm f--ked if I'd like to encounter a mist that's that colour in the Caribbean or anywhere else... I mean chlorine gas or alien invasion springs to mind.

The finish looks pretty similar to the Mystic Seafoam of my American professional tele, not sure how much they could differ

Yeah that’s what I thought too.

On the positive side, nice to see the American Standard back in production, although £2k is disappointing and could validate inflated prices on the used market.

Not bothered about the signature part, but:
    • Great colour - tick
    • Great scratchplate - tick
    • Six saddle bridge - tick
    • Rosewood board - tick
    • No locking tuners - cross  p
If I'm paying £2k for a Fender, I don't want to have to pay extra to fit locking tuners!

I don't think I have seen TBX on a Tele previously.
The TBX first appeared on the 1982/83 Elite Telecaster. It was standard on the American Standard. I cannot recall whether Fender dropped the TBX when the American Standard was rejigged and renamed American Professional. The TBX appeared on some Fender (Japan) models.

Caribbean Mist is probably my fave Fender colour of all time. It’s great under stage lighting.

I’ve got a 2004 Standard (tbh I can’t remember if it was named American or US Standard at the time) which doesn’t have a TBX tone control. It does have a no-load tone pot though.

Confusing Guitar World article popped up on my news feed this morning about this. Anyway the gist is that Susan was saying she inspired by Sue Foley to play a tele and why doesn't Sue Foley have a signature model (her well worn 1988 paisley one). Tedeschi has played all sorts of guitars but Foley has pretty much stuck with a tele and, to me, a much more obvious candidate for one.

Strat Plus series as well.  My '89 has TBX.

Ironically she's not actually playing guitar on this, but it's pretty spine tingling anyway.
