Withdrawn - Fender Paisley Strat 1980's E-series
What's Hot
E-series Japanese Fender Paisley Stratocaster. It's from the first run, which I've seen described as being built in 1984-86, but I think they are actually from 1988, It's the large headstock, 3-bolt version, unlike the more recent re-issues, and it is absolutely lovely (well, I think so). All original apart from a small toggle switch on the scratchplate to engage the neck pickup, making it possible to have neck+bridge and neck+middle+bridge I've had this since 1992 and it has been gigged and had quite a lot of use over the years, so it does have some scars.
First off are the two holes in the scratchplate where I had a Roland GK pickup attached for a while. They're not too bad, but they are there.
The trem arm has stripped the thread. It's been like that for around 20 years; I'm not sure if it's the arm or the block, but frankly, it's never bothered me as I have always preferred the arm to dangle loose on my Strats. A Rizla paper or similar has always worked to keep it in place.
There are a couple of dings in the body (specifically on the lower horn where I clonked it with a big metal strap buckle). There is also a bit of wear along the lower edge of the fretboard.
Was asking £600. Now I've decided to keep this thing of awesome beauty!
Comments
I have a 1984 one of these. It is my longest serving guitar (I've owned it for 24 years) and it is simply beautiful. Put's up more of a fight than some modern strats but sounds beautiful. Several people, including a few well know guitarists have tried to buy it off me over the years. If I wasn't currently amp buying I would snap this up.
What's particularly amazing about that generation of paisleys is the pattern has real depth over the more modern ones and in comparison to my 90s blue flower Tele the finish has not faded at all.
Too much acid if you ask me
George Alagiah!
I must never ever see something that beautiful ever again.
beautiful and dangerous.
