as far as the amp goes, you can pick up an old peavey transtube combo very cheap and they are great...then you can either use the distrotion on the amp, or buy a distortion pedal like a MXR SuperBadass, which will cover all metal bases.
on the guitar side of things...if you are learning to play, i am of the opinion that the guitar needs to look great! The point is, when you are sitting down watching TV, the guitar sitting in the corner should look good enough that you would turn the TV off and be drawn to playing the guitar. Later on you can start looking at functionality and versatility. For now, buy something you love the look of. Personally I hate strats and superstrats...my first guitar was a superstrat and I never played it. It wasnt till i bought a Washburn A20V (old 80's guitar which looked a bit like an explorer) that i started to reall play because i wanted to play that guitar.
BUT...you need it to be a decent quality guitar that will actually feel nice to play to.
I get your obsession with evil shaped guitars...i'm a metal head and i started playing metallica, slayer, etc back in the day (before metallica went soft with the black album...but thats another story). But I will say, BC Rich guitars, unless you buy the more expensive ones, are pretty bad guitars and wont help you in the early stage. I would highly recommend Ibanez, Jacksons and ESP LTD guitars as they really make good guitars at low price points. LTD's are a little limited as there are really 3 big shapes, the superstrat, the SG (Viper) and the LP's...and the majority come with active pickups...which are good for metal purposes, but its a compromise with shapes...so if non of those get your attention then move on to Ibanez...
On the used market you can get a Ibanez Destroyer or Iceman from about 5 years ago (the 700 series) for about GBP400-500. I use to have the Iceman, and they are great guitars...the neck is thin and great for shredding, the pickups are top notch and they well put together. They are fixed bridge so no tremelo, but then again i'm not a huge fan of trems.
I did a quick search of ebay...not sure where you live, but to give you and idea...these are things i would look at if i was going to spend about 500-600 on a complete rig.

THEN start doing proper research into pickups, pedals and all kinds of exotica.
Choose a 'metal' brand like Jackson or Ibanez.
