Which pedals on your board are always ON ?

On my board I have a t rex jr power supply and the pedals connected are:

Sonic Research ST300 turbo tuner mini
TC Electronics Sentry noise gate
CAE Wah
Maxon OD 808 reissue overdrive
Diamond CP1 compressor
Tone City summer orange phaser
MXR 234 analogue chorus
Boss DM2 waza analogue delay

All my pedals get switched on or off regularly depending on the song , but only ONE is left on permanently and that is my Diamond CP1 compressor which i just couldnt imagine not having. Despite the number of pedals you use, are there any always on type(s) regardless of the song ?

My Keeley Compressor but of late, when using one of my Strats with lower output pickups, my Xotic EP Boost is also being left on.

Simble PrecDriver, or Nocturne Atomic Brain. On or other is always on, depending on clean or dirty.  MXR M300 is rarely off too.

  • The last pedal on my board is always a Klon... or a klone these days actually - always on.

In my old originals band my Timefactor was on pretty much always. I'm a big fan of my one-knob Stratoblaster booster, but now I'm Helix-ed up that won't see so much use.

    Boost :)

  • I used to have a sho on all the time, but that sadly had to come off as the muffs with it didn't play nice into the ac15.

I usually have a boss df-2 on as I have the gain low and it cleans up okay. It's not often I want proper spanking cleans.

The AMT F1 - the board is designed so that it effectively takes the place of the preamp section of the amp, so it'd be a bit silly to turn it off.

The AMT F1 for me too. Most useful pedal  I've ever owned.
So many features in a tiny box. If I'm playing through an amp I can't get on with, I switch on the F1 and suddenly all is well in the world.

My Cornish TES; even when the Delay is off the output buffer is on and everything goes through it to the amp switcher, it's not in a loop precisely so I can use the buffer.

On my bass board, a DIY Baja opto-limiter and Catalinbread SFT are always on. The SFT is normally used to add some warmth to my Trace amp, but I use it to add a bit of crunch when needed.
On my guitar board, it depends. If I'm playing swirly guitar music (which is most of the time), then my CE-3, Echo Park and RV-7 will be permanently on.

    I said maybe.....

Surely this depends on the type of music you play.  I play mainly classic rock & blues & its only when playing certain songs that I'll use a compressor perhaps with modulation e.g. songs like 'Every breath you take', or 'Run to you', or if I'm playing something jazzy.  But I'd never just leave a compressor on as per the OP - For Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Free, Bad Company, Cream, Zep etc, I want the tone to stay 'classic rock' raunchy.

I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Compressor is an always on pedal on my board . It's a very versatile one though that I can tweak and adjust the blend etc

    Great question

for me: TC Electronics Flashback x4
I almost always play with just a little delay, and nothing else at all

    Like Gearmandude says, Reverb sucks
    i.e. it sucks tone

when you want it as an effect, it's great: Big sky etc

I love my Cali76 compact Deluxe, but would not want all the time
