New or used? You wont get better condensers than the AT at that budget. Perhaps look for a used beyer m88 as re20s are priced quite high. Most of the dynamics used for guitars are not great for speech but the Beyer m201 could do.

  • Used... If you can find one a Shure sm7b is a good shout
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

You might get a couple of RE20s for that price, but probably not.

  • Didn't realise how expensive the mics are that we have.
One definitely sounds more nasal and lacking top end than the others, wondering if these can be cleaned/renovated ?

If the Shure SM57 is good enough for the President Of The United States...

Unless its super super dirty then replacing the capsule is the only option, can you take a photo of the problem mic's capsule?

The lower end w xlr should usually have an end thats screws or turns off. Then the body sleeve slides off. Under that are screws holding the headbasket which you remove carefully making sure not to touch the capsule.

True. But I meant the President as an office, rather than a specifically orange one :).

The 57 has been the Presidential mic since Lyndon Johnson. Although to be fair, a lot of it is probably to do with its reliability rather than its sonic qualities.
