I have no horse in the raisin race.
I suspect the further north you go the shorter the vowel becomes. I mind that a lot less than southerners putting an 'r' in words like bath path past where there isn't one! And I don't like hearing latte pronounced as lartay.
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself
Best taken with jam and clotted cream. Either first, although I think Her Majesty takes them with jam first, then cream on top. If that’s good enough for her, who am I to disagree?
There was some news last year where this was all settled.....

Or do you have a hot choco - late, as opposed to a choco - early.
Sporky is entirely correct though, the most important thing in all this is to eat them as frequently as possible!
Cream then jam?
Or
Jam then cream and being wrong?
The rest of the country finds it hard to get upset about how someone else arranges their scone toppings.
This is why it's a jolly good idea to go to Cornwall on holiday, but an even better one to stop once you get to Devon.

Unsure how the family in Brixham say it, but whenever I go, theres a gluten free place I can eat at that did some mean scones! Both cream n jam, just whack it all over n enjoy the hell out of it!!
Now my northerner friend on the other hand calls these types of food ‘bread cakes’. But shes said Scon before, I’m sure of it lol
