How tall are you?  It’s just that you referred to yourself as a “fat fuck” because your are 212lbs.  I’m 215lbs but nine feet tall, so I carry it well.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Also chips are "Plant-based" no matter how you cook them.

Aye my specialist is actually a gastroenterologist, who discovered it by mistake, in a way.

He brushed off alcohol as a cause because I drink maybe, 3 bottles of wine a year or so.

In my youth I'd get drunk every weekend. But just tipsy drunk, not mental. My youth being 18-20, I'm now 30.

So he tested for hepatitis which can cause it. Negative result.

He settled on it being because I'm a fat fuck.

He also mentioned though that there is a correlation between Coeliac Disease (which I have and is the reason I see this Dr), and a fatty liver, or atleast an underperforming one.

My Coeliacs took around 5 years to diagnose, despite my constant efforts and complaining, so maybe that had an impact too. It caused a narrowing of my spine, osteopoenia (if I've spelt that correct), because while my body was retaining all of its fat, I wasnt taking in any nutrients. My intenstinal villa were completely atrophied.

Which isnt unheard of but it seems like I went the opposite way to most coeliacs. 1 of many symptoms is weight loss. Unfortunately I got all the shit symptoms (pun intended) and not that one! Lol.

Thankfully the osteopoenia has now gone (Though I do have my doubts), but I obviously went gluten free, consumed a lot of calcium tablets that actually upset my tummy (im sure of it) so just started drinking lots of milk, and being continously gluten free too, the intestines villi grew back, i took on nutrients better in general, and  my spine grew back to normal width/density/whatever its measured in!

So after testing for the obvious causes, alcohol and hepatitis, the next thing to try is weight loss (fat loss really).

Which because it requires effort on my part, is the hardest stage.

The Doctor did explain to me that if its just because its fat/im fat, then it will likely take years, I think he gave an example of 10, for the liver to actually become scarred and permanently damaged. So I have time. (Not great for motivation though).
He obviously insisted I start now, because why risk it.

    That was 3 years ago...

Im still 212lbs. At least I'm consistent I guess.

Sorry I can't give any science or biology and dietary expertise though.

I'm just winging it with the diet, at least to just try and cut my fat for next Aprils appointment, and then go from there.
I suffer from non alcoholic fatty liver disease too, it's a side effect of the anti psychotics that I'm taking. It's catch twenty two really, to help my liver I'd have to quit the anti psychotics which would plunge me into a state of psychosis, somewhere I've been before and don't really want to go again.
I'm over weight now also thanks to the side effects of the tablets, something I must try to remedy really but it's not easy.

Good luck with your diet although exercise is probably just as important.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Got me tests back and its not my liver, bloods were all fine, so its a muscle thing, but its now going on for 4 weeks and no sign of it receding.

Can you have a hernia without it sticking out?

Hiatus Hernia when it does that, ain't it? I'm supposed to have one of those, but it kinda went away after a few years. So I went back and it was either a misdiagnosis (thanks for the 9 years of medicine, guys!) or a mystery.

I had to laugh because I got the exact same thing happen with a thing called small bowel bacterial infection.

Get this, couple years ago they 'identified it' so put me on 2 lots of antibiotics long term which I'd have to rotate between every 2 weeks.

I was on them for a total of 7 months. Cost me a small fortune.
    Probably became immune too.

Anyways fast forward to June 2018 and they've now said, well your tests from last year are strange.

One test indicates the bacteria is there.
The other test states its negative.

Her exact words were 'what a mystery'.

So they put me on another course of antibiotics for a couple weeks and said 'if you feel no better the bacteria probably wasnt ever there, so just um, buy some probiotics and see how you go'

I did ask them to just cut this trial and error and scooby doo mystery shit and just do another biospy, so we can all actually figure out whats going on and treat it accordingly.

They declined. I presume its too expensive, and that leaving the patient to their own devices to 'figure it out' is more cost effective for them.
Makes no sense though because I keep having to come back wasting more time, thus surely it would have been cheaper for them to do one procedure and nip the problem in the bud from day dot.

    I dunno..

The only easy day, was yesterday...

    Yep

Put me in the queue for odd digestive issues.

I've had this intermittant pain in my general stomach area (below sternum) and a general load of burping and discomfort (but no acid reflux) for about 8 weeks

The docs first reaction was to stuff me on Omeprazole which I said I didn't want - 2 weeks on those and still no difference.

Went back and saw new practice  partner who talked to me long and hard about lifestyle - told me to give up booze for a month and caffeine and limit dairy and wheat and take a good probiotic. Them come back and be tested for something called Helibacter pylori which can cause stomach ulcers which can give the symptoms i have.

2 weeks into detox and I think there may be the tiniest of improvement. But it's barely noticeable if I'm honest.

Im of course thinking I have stomach cancer

^ only stomach cancer?  You've not been googling it enough ;)

Seriously though, I had those symptoms once and it turned out to be H-Pylori. I think I got a course of two difference antibiotics (at the same time) and omeprazole.  Been fine since

where does it hurt? which side, how far from centre?
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • Generally all over the stomach area - moves around - alcohol stops the grumbling pain until the following day. Burping relieves it a touch.

If you do Google it the closest you get is H Pylori and the ensuing peptic ulcer!!

Not shitting blood or losing weight so I'm guessing it's something to do with the cripplingly large amount of booze I've consumed in the last 12 months and my crappy stressy lifestyle

just checking do you know where your stomach is?

I was thinking more "on the left" "on the right, 4 inches from centre", under the ribs, lower down, etc

Really though, we're just kicking it around, you need to go through all the medical protocols to get to an answer

My pain was down to coeliac disease I eventually learned - it took years

Does eating yoghurt make pain go away?
