Callaham Bridge for my Tele

hey guys,

just looking for a wee bit advice regarding these bridges - read a lot of good things so thinking about upgrading.

There's two listed that as far as I can tell, the only difference is the LOOK of the saddles, but no difference funtionally:

Also, they look like they have extra screw holes compared to my standard bridge:

Is all of what I'm thinking right enough? I'm guessing there will be some Tele's that have these extra screw fittings?

Cheers

Keir

The saddles are both compensated, one by having the saddle at an angle and the other with compensated 'teeth' on the saddle - not sure what the benefit of one over the other is or what the benefit of having 2 extra screws at the front of the bridge is. Just wondering why they're so pricey though?

I might be after a Fender one like on yours. If you upgrade and want to sell then let me know :)

The angled saddles look more traditional but the intonation is more accurate on the 'enhanced' saddles.

  • The two extra screws hold the plate firm(er) against the body. A few manufacturers do this - Barden for another.
Not sure it makes any difference myself, but others may have more knowledge/experience. Only had a Callaham plate on mine for a month or so.

Just replacing the Callaham comp slant saddles on mine after 12 years, wouldn't buy them again as I hoped they'd last longer. Alas due to the heavy slant the string eventually cuts into the soft brass and makes a tiny ridge which then causes a sitar sounding effect. Have gone for the Rutters straight compensated variety instead this time.

  • Had one on my tele since 2007 when it was new.  Never had a problem TBH.

You've not noticed the same issue as @Strat54?
