Cable snake for 4CM

What's Hot
djspecialistdjspecialist Frets: 902
Does anybody use a cable snake between pedalboard and amp for 4 cable method?  It seems appealing from the PoV of quicker setup / teardown time, plus reducing the number of trip hazards on the stage.

If so, where can I get one?  Until recently my default port of call would have been KaBL; now that Rob has shut up shop, where should I look?

Rob said he would still do orders for people on request - just ask him if he'll do it.

I used to just get together the cables I was using for it, and every so far down the length use velcro cable wraps. Achieved a similar thing without significant additional cost and I could easily retrieve individual cables should I want to use them for something else.
    Red ones are better.

The Edge had to move to America to get one , St Patrick having driven  all the cable snakes out of Ireland.

That does appeal to the cheapskate in me - but how flexible is the resulting bundle?  I have a feeling it might get all kinked up - did yours ever do that?

In any case I only have one decent cable of the length I want - so I'd need to buy at least two more for the DIY solution.  (I don't need a footswitch - at least not for my current amp).

Also, I notice that the CPB loom has right-angled jacks at the board end.  Having winced as people plodded around near the straight jacks sticking out of the back of my board during soundchecks, that suddenly seems like a really good design choice.

Depends on the cables and how tortuously you need to route them. If it splays anywhere, add a velcro tie :-)

You can get that expanding braided cable sleeving stuff very cheaply. I would have thought that the resulting cable would be more reliable and more easily repairable than a custom made one. Not to mention considerably cheaper.

This is what I has got innit.

    My snake is as follows.
    1x midi
    2x switch cables
    1x trs exp controller
    1x guitar signal cable

combination of cable ties and Velcro straps.

Colour coded on the ends to corresponding jacks on my pedalboard/controller.

set up time is minimal as it's all plugged in to the back of my rack setup permanently, so all I have to do is plug in the power, speaker cable and pedalboard.

    Takes about 30s

this is a cheap and cheerful option. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_nkw=Spiral+Cable+Wrap%2FTidy%2FHide%2FBanding%2FLoom+~+PC%2CTV%2CHome+Cinema%2CWire+Management&_id=160956288816&&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2658

Go for larger that you think you'll need otherwise the bundle becomes too stiff.
