if you got the Cracking the Code Season 2 pack, which concentrates on Eric Johnston and Yngwie, you could learn to pick fast using their methods which combine angling the pick in one direction and using legato. They have a simple easy to use and accessable system.

Only on YouTube, so I (usually) get a notification when he puts out a new video. I've not paid for any of his products yet.
On @Octatonic's recommendation, I'm experimenting with Black Ice picks at the moment, too. Initial impressions are favourable, though I think I find them a little small, coming from Ultex Sharp 2mm.
ta - I'm just starting to concentrate on increasing my fluidity and speed of picking/playing as I'm ok to about 100 ish bpm but as a minimum would really like to be able to play and "improvise" 4 notes per beat at around 120-130 bpm as that's the speed of most songs - or a little faster so that I have some technique "in hand"
