Help me complete my pedalboard(s)

Mrs R kindly got me two Boss BCB-60s for Christmas this year which means for the first time ever I'm able to chain all of my pedals together.

Now that I've done so, I'm wondering if there's anything (Boss obviously!) missing. You'll note I don't have any form of overdrive or distortion pedals so that could be one. I've had a Boss OD-20 (twin pedal overdrive/distortion) which was rather a bit too much for my needs. I also had an OC-3 octaver and an AC-3 Acoustic Simulator.

Pedals currently on the board (all Boss) in this order:
  • TU- 3 Tuner
  • PW-10 V-Wah
  • AW-3 Autowah
  • CS-3 Compressor/Sustainer
  • PS-6 Harmonist
  • TR-2 Tremolo
  • PH-3 Phaser
  • BF-3 Flanger
  • CE-20 Chorus (Twin Pedal)
  • RE-20 Space Echo (Twin Pedal)
  • DD-7 Digital Delay
  • RC-3 Looper
My amps are a Roland JC-55 and a Fender Superchamp X2.

All opinions/advice greatly received.

Thanks

Tony

    Definitely not!

A mild overdrive/distortion would be more to my taste. ;)

  • OD3 - the most underrated overdrive of all time. You can spend a tonne for Kelley to mod a blues driver for more bass and more gain - or just buy an OD3 :-)

Thanks Matt, I hadn't considered that particular pedal.

Both amps have built-in reverb, but worthy of consideration - thanks :)

@Fuengi, that is definitely a pedal I'm not familiar with - what will it give me over and above the DD-7 and RE-20?

Boss OD-2, discontinued but cheap and plentiful secondhand. One of my favourites. Never been off my board.
Boss SD-1, a classic overdrive. Also cheap and plentiful.

It's not a current pedal but look out for the Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive - two distinct flavours of drive, one crunchy the other fuzzy. Another good Boss drive pedal is the DA-2 Adaptive Distortion, beautifully focussed distortion sounds.

@TonyR the Boss TE is somewhere between reverb and delay, has some interesting settings which can add a phaser effect and is totally dynamic.

It also has a brilliant hold function which allows you to repeat a sound, giving you a modulating wash. I use this a lot to record to a looper and play lead lines over.

    Great fun pedal.

I mentioned the reverb pedals as more of an effect in itself, rather than just adding a touch of ambience. A nice, modulated reverb can make your guitar sound absolutely huge, especially combined with delay. Try playing I'll Remember with a longish, good quality reverb (post delay) and I think you'll see what I mean!

All you really need to complete it is a backing track for A Forest.

@lasermonkey I've just tried my Holy Grail and whilst it doesn't give me the full sound for "I'll Remember" I now see where you're coming from. ;)

Thanks to suggestions from @MattBanshee and @JezWynd I have purchased an OS-2 and a DA-2 (thanks Gumtree!)

I've had a brief go with them both and I'm preferring the DA-2. The distortion is lovely and clean and not too OTT, pretty much what I'm after.

All I need now is an RV-5 and that'll be it! :)
