I said maybe.....
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
Omnisphere 2 - just brilliant, in every respect. Realtively accessible in terms of ease of use too, which is amazing given the depth of ability it has, and variety. It can do almost anything and having had it over a year I am nowhere near getting bored with it. Essential IMO. It is a bit CPU heavy for some stuff though.
NI Komplete Ultimate: I have version 9, and I'd say its pretty amazing really. I use it for just about everything. If there was one thing I'd say get over anything else, it would be this, as it has every base covered. Some awesome effects come with it as well.
Guitar rig - my main guitar & bass software. I've got a POD HD too, but I think GR edges it.
Alchemy on the ipad - I bought the full package years ago and it still sounds the business. Shame it now only ships with Logic X. Sounds fantastic.
Frontier D16 Limiter - its free and ace. I think I use it on every master. Easy and effective
Breverb - my favourite reverb
z3ta+2 synth
about 350 would get you a 2nd hand copy of Komplete Ultimate, which should cover every synth base you'd need. Especially once you start to get into Reaktor and its user community.

As @lasermonkey says, the GForce stuff is great, as is the old Korg Legacy package.
Download some demos and see what you like:

Thanks for all the tips folks...I guess I like synths with plenty of decent presets, I like arpeggio stuff which I use to start idea off, not too fussed about drums or Pianos, I like the Mai Tai in S1.
I was hoping to stay under £200 at the moment, and maybe buy add ons later.
I checked out demos for UVI Falcon ( like) Signal by Output( like) the Komplete stuff is good but I think if I get the entry level then I would want more stuff quickly?
Omnisphere looks great but maybe a bit too much for my needs?

Follow the same rules there as you would with buying gear on here (use Paypal, don't gift it to strangers etc etc). Bought and sold plenty of gear on there and found it very good indeed. Our shitty currency at the minute does make the bargains harder to find though.
I emailed him to see and received this reply;

I paid 275 for the original, peace of mind, all above board, guaranteed support and updates. When it comes to music software, always get originals. aside from the morals of getting cracked copies, they can also be no end of trouble in terms of bugs and reliability.
