Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

It was the ability of red wine to stain things I was referring to.
I can't fit a Tele jack cup as the jack hole is blind. Pity as any other jack cup/plate doesn't have the rustic vibe.
For the 2nd, I got a super freebie from @SteveRobinson in the form of a bakelite scratch plate. Turned up and I've been doing a relic job on it.
It was starting down the relic path when it arrived:
Good, but still way too shiny and nice for this build!!
So I attacked it with the wire wool and got a bit of edge damage going:
It then had a few cycles in the oven and freezer which started to crack the finish nicely and then had a good dousing with the scotchbrite pad and some judicious use of a sharp knife to really scratch it up:
The scratch lines need smoothing out a bit now and so tomorrow it will get a bit of 1200 grit paper treatment to soften it off, but the wear is looking good now...
I mean, I'm just going to spray some satin clear on the neck and then rub it back and let it dirty itself up! Can' be bothered with that relic maple fingerboard thing!
Control plate: all shiny and new:
But we we don't want that, do we
For relic'ing, I like to start with a scotchbrite pad and work up some random scuffing, and then highlight areas where there will be more wear:
And then place into a tray, which then floats in some vinegar into another tub, with a sealed lid:
Will leave it for a while then continue the relic process...
Anyway, here's the control plate after 4 hours in the vinegar vapour.. as you can see the corrosion is starting quite nicely.. The haziness mostly wipes off, leaving the blueish and brownish areas quite prominent..
