The flat top special is very raw and rock n roll the other a bit more refined or smoother but the special is easier to pick up and play, probably because of it's thinner body
I used mojo pickups in both guitars
Anyway that's my take on both
Something like a junior perhaps might suit you, it also depends on the scale length you want, fender vs Gibson as both sound different
