Pedal order and noise in loop

Evening all,

Hoping you can help out my understanding. I have three pedals in the loop of my amp, a Strymon BlueSky, a TC Flashback and an old big box EHX Deluxe Memory Man. When I run it with the DMM last in the chain I get a lot of extra noise coming through effects loop compared to if I run it first in the chain. I should also note that this only seems to happen in my Orange Jim Root Terror, whereas it doesn't seem to make any difference in the loop of my Bogner. Different loop designs perhaps?

  • There may be fixable electronic reasons for this, and someone clever will no doubt be along shortly to address that. Possibly something to do with input and output impedances.

In the meantime, it reminded me of a joke:

"doctor, it hurts when I do this"

"then I suggest you don't do it"

Basically, unless there's some reason you need to have the DMM last in line, don't.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
