Don't be surprised if you find a broken headstock in your bed.

"We're gonna have a fire sale and hope the money generated can keep us afloat"
Interestingly, if they sell off a load of brands and property, it probably WILL be the year with the biggest *revenue* they've ever had...but that's far from a success story if the money generated just goes to pay interest off their debts.

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youDoesn't exactly reflect well on his acquisitive streak if they all have to be sold off.
A Gibson guitar is much more than 'that headstock'. Gibsons do have 'that' sound, a sound that excites, a sound that encourages wannabes to buy Gibson. Gibsons have issues: upper fret access on the Les Paul, neck heaviness on the SG, to name but two that I have knowledge of. However players have found workarounds to these problems and/or ignore them completely. A big problem for Gibson is player acceptance of these innovations. When units like the GForce tuners fail, how many are returned to Gibson or their distributors for replacement? Fitting Grovers is a user decision, Gibson are thus unaware of the problem. Discussion forums like this rant on and on, it is unlikely that Gibson are tracking each and every guitar forum for the users opinions of their products. If Gibson does not innovate, the opinion is that the company is producing rehashes of its own products. If it does innovate............. Which way is it to be?

Why not innovate and address the issues that people actually care about...neck and headstock stability, tuning stability/ problems for example. Fix those and we’re on a winner.
Look how PRS and Other great manufacturers are pushing the boundaries and genuinely maling their products better with improved hardware or finely tweaked features...not crazy new circuits with distortions that aren’t a user need or want.

That is true, but their *only* innovation was the shape. Everything else was stable technology - even in 1958, with the possible exception of the new-fangled humbucking pickups that had only been out a couple of years - and which has not dated. You can still use an all-original V or Explorer today with no issues.
Good luck getting a Firebird X to work in twenty years' time, or probably even spare parts for your G-Force tuners.

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
No matter how deeply their heads are buried in the sand, even Gibson must be aware of public opinion regarding G-Force tuners, the Firebird X, the Dusk Tiger, the 2015 models, the always-better-than-last-year Historics, the pointless re-jigging of the entire range every fucking year....
It may be the case that the man at the top refuses to listen, but he knows all right.
