What's Hot

I brought this beauty back into the fold this week. I've had it a while, not played it as much as I would have liked so it sat in it's case for a bit and needed a good set up, duly supplied by Mid Wales Music (thanks Mark!).

Now it's back in action so, seeing as it's sunny, and you lot like looking at pictures of guitars.....

Made in Japan's finest hour, Ibanez Musician MC500DS

Edit: BTW I didn't take these pictures myself. Credit to a budding young photographer I know who I 'commissioned' for the job. He's rather passionate about the art, so here's a shameless plug (before I get knobbled), any kind words of encouragement appreciated: https://www.louisjayphotography.com/

    Explain the buckle rash on the front ...”minor cat scratches which are totally authentic to its age”:)

    It’s inside, but illuminated by the mighty Helios, which was outside.

    Nice pics @blobb, I had an MC300 Ltd Ed for donkeys years from new, sold when wolves were at the door. Build quality was top drawer

    Some of those 80s Ibanez and Kawai guitars of this type were superb. Both companies bringing near Alembic quality to the masses. The basses..oh man they were amazing quality too.

    Ah, the Mysterious MC300 LE, mysterious mainly because not many got to USA (where the big MIJ fan base is). Active electrics satin finish and maple core like the MC500.

    You are clearly endowed with both great wisdom, and incredible taste.
    ;)

    I've also got their 12-string brother, but that one appears to have been camera shy as I can't find any pics anywhere.

    From the top;
    F-I
    F-I & F-IJr
    F-III

    There's also an F-V in the range (which I don't have), and a couple of basses (F-I-B &  F-II-B).

    Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    Never mind the guitar, more cat pics please....

    I've said it before, but Japanese guitars from that period fill me with nostalgia.  In 1981 I was writing off to Summerfield(?) for Ibanez catalogues, I started buying Guitar Player and fixating on the adverts, the guitar shop windows were full of Ibanez, Aria, Washburn, Yamaha etc.  Local bands had AR-100s, ST-70s and old Antorias....

    In 1982 I actually ended up buying a Hamer, but I've always had a soft spot for MIJ guitars from that pre-Jem, pre-RG era.  A few years ago I did buy one of the guitars from those old ads, an Aria Pro II CS-400, but it's nowhere near as elegant as your Ibanez (or TTony's Kawais).

    Thread title changed to reflect the rightful claim of the superior animal lifeform. Not my cat, I don't own a cat. I've no idea how these cats keep getting into my pictures.

    @suspiciousminds and @blobb autocorrect fail!

    I typed "Mark's a good guy ISN'T he"!

    I've known him and Phil for years, it's a great shop, sorry it came out like I was questioning it!

    Mid Wales Music = Guitar shop done proper. Only downside is I need to learn to leave my wallet in the car sometimes! Date for your diary, Aug 4th Eliza Perks folk singer - not sure if I will be accompanying, I have been known to 'electrify' some of her songs, in a Bob Johnson way, of course. Others call it 'Spoiling' but I'm sure that's another auto-correct error.

    But yes, my statement still stands, very pleased to have the MC back in action. I just hope they don't get any of those Kawais in stock, otherwise I think I might have to pop back to the car for a minute.....

    Like WOW!  What a great collection you have there. You don't happened to be related to Gerry Garcia by any chance?  :)
