They then sent letters demanding a tenner so I thought fuck it, can't be arsed with this and sent them a cheque. I've not parked there since and it used to be the car park I would always use.
You are advising to not appeal and to simply ignore the ticket in the hope that the issuer will give up their attempt for recourse. I think that's quite different.
I would recomend not ignoring BUT definately NOT paying the charge either. They are easy to win if you follow the correct procedure.
There have also been cases where people have not only beaten the parking companies but have won substantial damages off them for breech of the data protection act.

Our singer now has a ticket so I guess the other 2 will be getting one soon.

Without knowing the exact venue location, I can not comment on where the band's cars should have been parked instead.
It might be worth contacting the gig venue management to have a grumble. If you were parked on private property with the owner's permission, perhaps the owner can intervene on your behalf to get the private parking fines revoked. Alternatively, if you ever get booked into that venue again, you will have to increase your fee by £240.
I just smiled at him, popped it in the bin and drove off.
Unsurprisingly, I never heard anything from them.
