Well, this guy seems to like the Arion Metal Master. Just wait until it kicks in around 0.27

PS Why aren't all pedal review like this?
PPS I'd have thought the Boss DS-1 or a RAT is a safer bet though ;-)

  • I used to have a Blackstar Dist-X. Sounded amazing and very amp-like. Shame it was enormous and had to have a special PSU.

I also tried a Marshall Guv'nor with my 63 Vibroverb reissue and it was very good

I dont use pedals much anymore but the Tech 21 XXL was a favourite of mine for many years, I'm a Marshall guy though, not Fender.

I really like the Emma Electronics Reezafratzitz. Great distortion from this pedal, but it can do overdrive really well too. By no means a one trick pony.

this isn't music, it is more akin to rhythmic belching through a 100w head... so on that basis any old piffle will do.

  • I really like the sound of those Revv G3 pedals.

Havent bought one yet as I have no need for one as a going concern but a mate has one and I love it.  It just sounds so controlled and sweet in comparison to other high gain pedals I’ve struggled with.

    Ignore the above.

    The answer is always Rat.

    I'm only slightly exaggerating :)
    I'm inclined to agree!
For me it's turbo rat. I think the trick is to get the amp so it's compressing and then lay off the distortion control on the pedal and let the amp do some of the work

Boss DA-2 Adaptive Distortion. Uses Boss’ MDP tech which results in exceptional note separation and clarity. Well worth a try.
    I concur - I have a DS-1X and the MDP is excellent.

I'd try this too. Really want one after testing one in store.

I recently discovered the Nano Metal Muff. I saw one on Bill Frisell's board and it piqued my curiosity. I love pedals that do one thing well and this nails that heavily saturated, long sustain sound.

Since my earlier response in this thread, I've acquired a Suhr Riot and a Boss SD-2. The Riot is the one that's made it onto my board.
