This is the voting thread for the Cover Challenge #4

All that is required is to pick your top three and post them in the thread below.

Points are awarded as follows - 5 points for first place, 3 points for second place and 1 point for third place.

Entrants obviously aren't allowed to vote for themselves. Voting closes at 11.30pm on Friday 8th March
In the event of a tie for first place one of the modmins will be our head judge and have the casting vote.

The entry with the most points gets to pick the next song to be covered.

ALL ENTRANTS PLEASE HAVE YOUR IDEAS READY FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE. YOU WILL HAVE ONLY 48HRS AFTER VOTING CLOSES TO MESSAGE ME WITH YOUR SONG CHOICE. IF YOU FAIL TO DO SO THEN I'LL END UP CHOOSING IT FOR YOU!

Well done to everyone, agree that this was a difficult one!

Anyway, my votes go to:

5 points @poopot - The triumphant return of Mr Slippyfist, flutes, funk and sleaze; the unholy trinity!

3 points @markblack - very nice bare bones take, great voice as well

Agreed about the difficulty and all great versions (I'd take any of them over the original). I'll go with

and thanks for the kid words above... have to be honest I'd never heard the song before, I enjoyed doing a cover of something I had no attachment to. Nice to try something different.

Fantastic work all - I hope you had fun with it. I did - albeit life got in the way and I didn't finish in time. But I don't think my dirge would have compared very well with these.

Seems a shame to have to leave someone out but in the end I'm plumping for:

5 points @markblack - completely different from anything I would have expected and really nicely done
3 points @flying_pie - also completely different and good fun
1 point @poopot - very listenable and lots going on

Well I wouldn't have stood a chance against this lot. This is very tricky because I've got to leave someone out, and the votes depend on how I look at things. I'm going to go with the tracks I enjoyed listening to the most.

5 points @poopot : Great track and groove. Very Bowie'ish. But how the hell did you get that monster lead guitar tone? I need to know all the details. Christ that sound reminds me of hearing Alan Murphy live at the Cricketers. Real goose bump stuff.

I'm really sorry to miss you out @flying_pie. Amazing imagination and creativity. If that was the basis for the voting then you deserve to win in that category.
