The Dunlop Platinum 65 Deep Clean is very good for regular day to day fresh finger marks etc

For deeper stubborn sweat stains and light surface grazes then I agree with @Alnico that something like Maguires X20 Scratch is good - Also on a similar vein then Planet Wave Restore

I'm curious why you would need special "guitar" polish?
Considering all spray paint used to be nitro what makes guitars so different that they need a dedicated (overpriced) polish?
Because no one knows what polishes are safe for which finishes and you can charge guitarists more by marketing normal polish as being special for them.

Fully aware of the latter, at least I know I'm buying the right thing!

I once used a non-specific polish on a guitar, it stripped the finish and got so hot the guitar suddenly burst into flames.

It smells nice! I’m not actually too fussed about cleaning my own guitars - but wanted to freshen up one that I’d bought used.

I’m a bit funny about having to clean used guitars thoroughly...

I bought that posh guitars set years ago with caranuba wax. And i use lemon oil for the fingerboards, soak up the excess with cotton buds.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

Anything used on a car (apart from poundshop specials) is going to be good enough for guitar finishes!

Gerlitz.  Buy the pack with the lovely cloth, fretboard conditioner, carnauba wax and general cleaning spray.  Wonderful kit.

You do all realise that polish hinders the natural relicing process?

Bollocks. I’ve just spent 40 mins slathering my Les Paul in Sex Wax.

I've got a selection of dedicated cleaners and polishes and they last forever, mainly because I tend not to shine the shyte out of them and just play them instead.
