And then really, really regret buying.

I chortled at this, although it's a beautiful looking thing...

I remember when I bought my first 6 string bass - I jumped straight up to it from a 4 and took it to a gig that week B

Regret buying is a bit harsh, but I really should curtail my impulse spending. It was a big problem before when I had dozens of guitars/effects - If I got paid, I'd buy more, and new rather than used so I'd inevitably make a loss.

Even when getting back into electric it's been a bit of an issue, but nowhere near like before. There's nothing I've bought that wasn't/isn't great, and I've had fun with all of it.

Pretty much. I bought it 4 years ago... In 2015.
I liked the case, sound it made & the smell.
Unfortunately I hated the neck, logo, hologram & tuners.

I didn't lose any money when I sold it on, but I was SO disappointed.

I don't ever regret buying guitars, I regret not playing the ones I do have due to having bought another one.

Not a purchase, but a swap - a really nice Squier Strat I had as a teen which would have just needed some TLC and maybe new pickups, for a fucking awful Fernandes Vertigo (the really cheap one, no sustainer). To this day I've no idea why I swapped the Squier. Found a photo of it the other day and had a surge of regret.

I regret buying what I thought was an original USA Custom Ibanez RG but turned out the neck wasn’t original. Every single piece of metal was rusty, it sounded terrible and it never stayed in tune.

My first electric guitar was an Encore Stratalike, it was red and I hated it, I've never owned a red guitar since and never will.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Ha ha...literally exactly the same. Got mine from Argos with a piece of crap Roktec (I think?) amp!

Regretted building up my telemaster. It looked and sounded great but I had to sell a Les Paul to help fund it. Sold the telemaster for a pittance and still have gas for a nice LP again. I also regret getting a cherry SG instead of a black one too. I could get it refinished but imagine that's prohibitively expensive!

Some sort of Squier Tele. Bizarrely it didn't matter which pickup you used, they both sounded exactly the same.

I’ve bought two new PRS in the past and the resell is beyond painful - never again, just don’t get on with the sound and no bigger wants them secondhand.

  • Never regretted buying any, though I had to sell on a Epi Casino Coupe as it wasn't stable (needed a set up every 2 weeks).

The nearest thing to buyers regret was my PRS CE24 Reclaimed Wood. That needed a new neck (original was twisted) which PRS built and shipped from USA. It was fitted in the uk by PRS Europe. When I got it back none of the frets above 12 were crowned (all have big flats). I'll get around to doing it myself eventually. Its a fine guitar, but don't fall for the PRS hype.
I sometimes think, therefore I am intermittent

I regret some I didn't buy through fatal procrastination. Never regretted buying any though.

17 years ago my then girlfriend bought me the “guitar I’d always wanted” a Purple EBMM Axis which seemed to precipitate a 13-14 year whirlwind of endless guitar buying/selling/building.
I must have pissed literally thousands up the wall in the intervening years only to end up back playing the Axis again.
i do wonder if I could’ve better spent my time & money

No. Every single guitar I buy is "the best of the best" and "among the best I've ever played". They are all "tone monsters" and "incredibly versatile." They will all only be sold "very reluctantly."
