Great guitars!

Great NGD Jimmy!
The Tim Shaw pickups are very interesting (to me). They featured in many Les Paul models in the 80's. including some very modest (AKA Cheap) versions. And yet....when those pickups were put in the early attempts at Les Paul re-issues, they did sound really good. And they do sound a lot like real PAFs. Of course.....I am always banging on about the fact that Brothers in Arms is arguably one of the greatest Les Paul tones ever. That was an early re-issue (mid 80's) with Tim Shaw pickups. To re-create that sound (live) Knopfler uses..........a 'Burst.
With regard to the guitar generally.....Screw accuracy. Unless we are all insane we should all judge guitars by picking them up and playing them. Not by the type of glue used. I do welcome the ongoing Gibson attempts to improve their re-issues and I thought the recent return to a condom free truss rod was a good move (feeling what you are playing through the back of the neck may be more than just a gimmick)
I completely understand the appeal of this guitar - and other early re-issues. Many congrats on your NGD.
Really lovely guitar and if they weren't so expensive I would seek one out.
He paid considerably less than they go for today for his new one.
