^ More possibly that southerners are simply deaf to how others perceive their noise.
    Ask Dick Van Dyke...

Why do northerners think Londoners pronounce London as Landon?
Do they all have hearing difficulties?
Because they do!  Well, some do.  I think it's more an East end kind of thing.  I'm from North London and although it wasn't prevalent near me, I heard it a lot from visitors from other parts of town.

I can only speak for what it was like in the 60's & 70's though.  I imagine London is so multicultural these days that there is no "London" accent anymore.

Yes, it's a city of many accents, and many languages.  I guess I still have a notion of an East London accent, and a South London accent - although they've evolved from what they'd have been a few decades ago - but I'd have no idea what North or West London accents would sound like, if they exist.

I'm a Londoner, born and bred and have never lived, or even worked outside of London.
I have never heard another Londoner (north, south, east or west) pronounce London as Landon. The only time I've ever heard anyone say Landon is when non-Londoners, mainly northerners, are taking the piss out of the accent. And I've heard that hundreds of times.

I’m originally from NW London, my first wife was a West London girl. There definitely is a difference in the accents but it’s very subtle.

I've lived a few miles north of the M25 for most of my life. I have heard "Larndan" more than "Landon", in much the same way you might put on a generic Southern Yob accent and go "I'll av a pint of laaaarrrrrger, mate". But I have heard it. Mostly from people with fairly strong working class Essex/Harlow/Stevenage or north/northeast London accents. It's hardly ubiquitous though.

As @sev112  put it on the 13th Oct.  1

"The Friday Humour thread is my little bit of pleasure to look forward to during the week - I don’t read it until Friday.  Seeing the post count going up makes me think that I am going into a conucopia / compendium of all sorts of humour.   I don’t even mind the limericks .

But can we have a separate thread please “Comments on the Humour Thread” where the moaners and point scorers can go, and leave the jokes to a thread on their own please ? "

And as he was, I'm aware of the irony in posting this...

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?
