Girlfriend lives there so spend most of my weekends there. I love the place. It’s pretty small as far as cities go but has everything you need really. Has the big 3 of Waitrose/John Lewis and a decent coffee shop.
Not much in the way of music stores. Wizard Guitars is there which is alright but beyond that its fairly standard low end stuff. Right off the M1 so good for travel, near the peaks for escaping. Girls are attractive, it’s a decent night out and house prices are ridiculously cheap
I’m looking at buying a place in the new Kelham Island development, which is about 5 mins walk from town centre, has awesome local pubs, and 10 mins walk from 2 big supermarkets.
@chrispy108
Glad you enjoyed it. The areas you are looking at are fine.
Did you sample any Nightlife?
Only bad thing is the crazy one way system in the center!

Good Pubs nearer to town:
The Washington, Fitzwilliam St. (Very Music Orientated and has a lot of old school Rockers hanging in there as well as a mix of others)
The Nelson Rock Bar, Furnival Gate. Speaks for itself.
The Pubs I mentioned after Shalesmoor in my other reply(Real Ale Capital).
The Devonshire Cat, Wellington Street. Close to The Washington.
Fagan's, Broad Lane. Sheffield's Legendary (Trad not Neo) Irish Pub, Richard Hawley is supposed to frequent here.
Pubs in Student/Residential Areas(Don't let that put you off, no offence Students):
The Ball Inn, Crookes
The Nottingham House, Broomhill.
The York, Broomhill (Foody Pub, but good for a drink too)
The Fox and Duck, Broomhill.
The Broomhill Tavern....erm.
Further out:
The Bull's Head, Ranmoor
The Ranmoor Inn, Guess Where?
The Rising Sun, Nether Green, just up from Ranmoor.
Late Bars that are ok: and play retro music are The Green Room and Maggie Mays, but are frequented by Kevin and Sharon and are usually heaving(not my cup of tea).
Leopold Square has some late bars(that are restaurants earlier) but have a DJ on and are less packed.
There is also the usual shit like Weatherspoon's and Walkabout etc.
There's enough here to keep you going for a bit
@Myranda
I was relying on chrispy to use Google Maps, but I have categorized them for him.
Obviously the 4 in Broomhill are
As are the 2 in Ranmoor
Most town pubs are generally within walking distance of each other as are these.
The Real Ale Capital "Shalesmoor" those pubs(in my earlier post) are too.
Crookes has more than the 1 pub I mentioned which can be done as a crawl.
Washington, Dev Cat are close which I mentioned and are 10 mins walk from Nelson.
The Late Bars are also "In Town".
Fagans is slightly apart from the rest, but has other pubs and Butler's Indian Restaurant(Theeeee Best) close by.
I think he'll manage to sort something out from the info here.
No Probs @chrispy108
I drink Brandy, by the way!
Lol, Only joking re The Brandy. )
