we bought our usual couple of tomato plants in May,  expecting them to be the 'can grow in a porch' varietyt that mrs bert got me last year.

They were relegated to the back yard a few weeks ago, and are now over 8 foot high !!

They are plants with miniature tomatoes, not miniature tomato plants !!!!

I love the smell of tomato plants. Reminds me of my grandad's greenhouse. And now I'm sad because I probably won't see him ever again.

First, my purpley flowery things I grew from seed... 'Purplus Flowerus' I think they're called.

Then my famous intercontinental ballistic greenhouse...

Containing.....  Cherry tomatoes, aubergines, chillies, parsley, basil, sage, rosemary, oregano, chinese asters, dwarf somethingorothers, californian poppies and slugs.

It's a bit cramped in there right now.  I think I overdid it on the tomato plants and I wasn't expecting the aubergines to produce such monster leaves.  Mind you, I've never grown them before and I didn't check beforehand.

    Many plants what I got.
Don't ask me what they are called, except the big one, which is a Magnolia Grande Flori.

We have one of those along the back wall.
And a Clematis climbing up the front of the house.

our 'main' clemetis was choked by ivy, and we had to get rid of it earlier this year,  the base of the stem was  8" accross

    Impressive.

    Actually I got it wrong.
We have a Clematis along the back wall and a Wisteria in the front garden.
We did have a Clematis on the front wall but it didn't survive last year- it is very exposed.
Also have a privet hedge in the front garden that I planted myself 2 years ago.
Finally gave it a proper pruning in July and it is looking like a proper hedge now- very exciting- I've never managed to get things to live this long in the past.

The 'fret' bench surrounded by shrubs where I strum away the afternoon on my acoustic ... this often involves beer ..

Sometimes - it's a unique way of relicing an acoustic though .. lovely smell of stale beer and dubious stains ... :-)

    Ooooh.....serious headache this morning!

Anyway, let's try this. 'Mrs Palmer', my canary island date palm. Had it for about 10 years, it's about 15' tall now.
