Rehearsals been going regularly for about 2 months now. 4-piece: female vocalist (strong voice, good range), bass, drums, guitar. Here are the songs we have been working on so far:
We probably need a handful more songs. And we need to put them into some kind of order ... two set lists for pub / club gigs etc. I'm aware that it is a slightly mixed bunch of songs. The overall theme we want is to have songs that are upbeat, up-tempo, energetic, danceable etc.
Any suggestions for great songs suitable to female vocals to fit right in very welcome.
And, any suggestions for picking out set-openers / closers / encores very welcome too.
Many thanks.

Thanks for suggestions and @jd0272 for having a pint with us.
@Polarityman .. don't know the Cardigans.
Female vocal songs with upbeat feel are what we need.
We know the 'classics' but are not exactly with it on modern stuff.
Stuff like 3 minute hero ( and every covers band needs one ska song as its dance music for blokes).
Katie Perrie?( spll?) If you dig out the earlier live versions from Later and that period she was basically fronting a new wave ish rock band.
ooh, Im Coming Out - great,great guitar riff.

Elton John - Crocodile Rock
Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth

Not so keen on Cardigans etc, not quite upbeat / dancy / recognisable enough to us oldies

Love all that old motown, soul, doo-wop ....
thanks for introducing me to Detroit Cobras - never heard them
careful selection of single voiced songs is key as we only have the one vocalist ... drummer does some backing vox, but limited
