Ronseal Hardglaze @Andyjr1515 has had excellent results with it so I'm trying it out.

It's been really easy to work with Andy. I'm still building up the level to a point in happy with. I'm only having time for 1 coat a day at the minute so it's taking a while.

So I had a bit of a disaster with wet sanding a few weeks back and had to go back to applying the ronseal. It's been curing about a week now with one more to go but I couldn't resist mocking it up tonight. Fingers crossed should be playing this again in less than 2 weeks.

I'm really happy with how this is turning out so far. If we get some decent weather this weekend I'll take some pics in sunlight with the neck on. I'll have to decide soon if I'm going for a rosewood or maple fretboard.

Thanks Andy I'm really pleased with it so far. Looking forward to playing it in anger. How long do you normally leave it to cure for before polishing?

At least a couple of weeks (although it would be tough enough to play before that).

Be careful, though - I have never managed to make a traditional nitro 'sand then buff' approach work without something akin to disaster happening!  Basically, the layers of varnish don't melt into each other in the same way as nitro and so if you do it this way you are likely to see contour marks where the different layers are exposed.

Just let it be for a couple of weeks, then polish it with a quality finishing auto polish such as Autoglym or Meguiars carnuba wax.

Majestic purple I'm quite pleased I ordered 2 bottles just in case. I really fancy a 335 in this colour now.
