SOLD 2 YEARS AGO: aged Copper DC59(still available) and harley benton baritone(sold)
What's Hot
Having a little clearout and getting rid of a couple of cheapies. both have been modded and used
Danelectro DC59 - this is one of the more recent reissues which came in satin black finish with satin chrome hardware. I got it from MR a few years ago and converted it to a sitar. Then last year I put it back to a guitar and finished it in copper paint with a bit of green verdigris. the plate was butchered as part of the sitar conversion so this one is an replacement, and has an extra hole which isn't currently used. lets call it a tone hole
The copper paint is the stuff jooky was using, its had a few light coats of acrylic lacquer but will continue to wear and age - its not a hard wearing finish
£125 collected from Burton On Trent or £145 posted in the UK
Also there is my Harlye Benton Mosrite style Baritone.
These were offered by thomann for decoration only so it has a D stamped by the heel. First I got it playable, and I am happy to report it plays pretty well. its had a few upgrades, but also has picked up a bit of damage and the original tuners died a few weeks back so I chucked on a set I had here
Mods:
Bridge screws shortened to stop them fouling strings
Bridge Pickup changed to a PRS SE p-90 with brass baseplate
Neck Pickup changed to a Kent Armstrong Sky P-90 with nickel silver baseplate
Tuners changed to Black wilkinsons
General set-up and new D'addario strings
Neck finish satinised
Issues:
Using pickups from different manufacturers means the middle setting is currently out of phase
The tuners were not a match, so a few extra holes on the back, and obviously they are not gold
The neck pickup route was very tight, some finish chipped out when changing it
There is a small chip on the back of the neck
really should have taken the plastic of these by now
Lets say £75 collected or £95 posted..... a hell of a lot of guitar for the money!!
