Guess I'm too much of an 80s glam rock and hair metal boy
Cowboy boots and summer dress, or killer heels  (same goes for the girls!)

Never cared for the grunge look of paratroop boots with a summer dress (or baggy cutoffs and check shirt), or DMs for that matter.

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

Doesn't bother me. Can't say footwear is on my list of stuff that affects me either way, the only thing I can't be bothered with is hearing the inevitable complaints of discomfort after a clearly inappropriate selection... at least Docs are (presumably) comfy to walk in, never tried any myself

I wonder what @breakstuff would think about Katie Hopkins in Docs?
    Urgh!

That would make her look soooo unattractive and detract from her natural beauty.

Don't even want to think about that Richard.

I'd like to focus on what seems to unite us all; boots plus dress. Let us not quibble over details.

Skirt & boots is good too.

Doc Martins with anything but they are silly money now.
Buy a 'For Life' pair and pay once. Once they're done (worn/broken) send them in and they send you a new pair, repeat, for life.

First I've heard of the 'for life' thing. Seriously tempted.

No, I've never heard that before either.

aren't Doc Martins the item of apparel that has risen in cost more now than anything else?
    why are they so expensive?

Can someone move this to SC so I can express my opinion of women in DMs wearing summer skirts with no underwear without there being any risk of Mrs Fab reading?

Seeing Lone Justice on some tv programme when I was a teenager had a profound effect on me. I'll just have to imagine the cowboy boots...

With splits in DMs, did anyone ever heat up a knife and stick it into the split to seal/repair it?

As an aside, my brother-in-law's band (King) were sponsored by Doc Martens in the 80s and he was given some fabulous and unusual 'one-off' pairs. Sadly, I'm not sure if he's even kept one pair but the ladies in the house/ex-girlfriends seemed to have acquired them.

Who was your b in law in King? I used to date Paul King's cousin for a little while (30 years ago now!).

    Ahh.

Huge, huge sounding band. I lived in Coventry when they'd just had their hits and still considered a very well known band and a big local success.
I also used to buy Doc Martens from army surplus stores, they seemed fairly cheap and you couldn't get them in normal shoe shops.
