The Pi is internal to the box now, with all the ports redirected to the backplane.
and the arcade controls and T strip from https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/
All the controls connect to a Xinmo board which the Pi sees as a PS3 controller.
I just went for basic stuff and it's perfect for the job, in fact it could be argued it feels more authentic as that's what they use in the real arcades.
For USB interface I use this https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/xin-mo-2-player-arcade-controller-interface-pc-and-ps3.html
It works well and has a bit of support knowledge in the Retropie forums.
The MDF was cut by this chap http://www.chillisarcade.co.uk/ but I don't know if he still does them.
The artwork vinyl was from http://rockstarprint.co.uk/ I got them to make me a custom bit from some of their stock stuff.
The joysticks, switches etc are really very simple to set up. It's all just a pre made crimped loom.
I’ve ordered the joystick kit I linked and a 5mm A4 size piece of perspex... just got to decide now if I am going to make a box or buy one. I think I might have some wood spare in the cubby I shall have a look tomorrow..
If I was still a bachelor I would build it into the coffee which would be blooming perfect and look fecking awesome..
