The album is surprisingly good as a complete work. He really has stepped up in my esteem on this one.

Weird choice of sample though; Charlie Chaplin:

I agree the new album is surprisingly (to me at least) quite decent.  Whether it stands up to repeat listening time will tell.  I'm a bit ambivalent about the timbre of his voice though, the thickraspiness seems like too much of a good thing at times.

I have a real love/hate thing with his music as in I think he is quality and incredibly talented, but for some reason feel like I should not like it !!??

His acoustic set on Absolute radio was bloody excellent though.

Downloaded it a couple of days ago after listening to the free stream itunes had going.  Iron Sky is my favourite but the others are all growing on me.

  • Got the last two albums, the guy is constantly developing, getting better every album. Sounds more like Bob Marley at times though!
It's funny but for some reason, the backing reminds me of a band that I used to love a few years ago, Cherry Ghost.
    Great song.

    Cherry Ghost.

I love Cherry Ghost. Seen em numerous times, last one was in few months ago in Manchester at the Halle, St' Peters although that was just Simon 'what-is-name' the singer.  Top band.
