Anyway, I am pleased to hear some people would go. It’s an experience not many of us have the opportunity to partake in.
Give my wife a chance to buy a nice hat.
I'd secretly hope to meet Phil the Greek and hear one of his classic racist quips.
Can't you go and just treat it as tourist visit, or so they make you take part in rituals?
Surely better than sitting on the sofa watching tv or going to work, depending which day it is on.
however, and conversely perhaps, I do like all the pomp and pageantry. I didn't think I did, until I watched the changing of the guard a few years ago, and I thought "shine on, we really do this well". Pretty impressive.
I'm not sure I buy all this tourism that would decline if we became a republic. I think people would still want to come. it was great. Excellent sandwiches and cake.
got to queue up for it with a lot of celebs. Chatted with Brian May briefly and got to point at Quo, Ronnie Wood and various other rock royalty. Was all a bit surreal but a good day out. Even Mike Read who I presume was there to sing that Calypso song in a Jamaican accent for Prince Phil
