Microwave ovens

What's Hot
Mine got a bit messy (my own fault) and recently started making odd noises. It is about 10 years old. Cleaned it and it still makes odd noises with flashes of light accompanied by small thunder. Have I killed it? Any suggestions for a cheap replacement (2 dials only 1 for power and another for time)?

Is that a mark knopfler reference?

I've seen some that have a well known brand name but lots of 1* reviews. And others where the spec seems OK but the brand name suggests cheap&nasty with no reviews at all.

Always had Panasonic microwaves in the past. Not sure if they do a simple type though.

I got one for home and one for work recently (people being fussy about controls). Super-straight forward to use and does the jobs very well. Easy to clean (wipe).

Just put your tin foil hat on and sit next to it, you'll be fine !

We just picked up a cheap two knobber from Morrisons a couple of years ago and it’s been fine.

Do you need a microwave ? I got rid of mine and don't miss it. I use a halogen oven for cooking and reheating food and a saucepan for heating soup.

Sounds like you need a new waveguide cover. Only a few quid - much cheaper than a new microwave!

I had a cracking old Japanese one. It melted solidified milk fat like, er, butter.

I've still got the glass plate from its predecessor. Does that count?

My mum bought a panasonic one in 1980 - it's a terrific colour scheme of different browns. The different functions on it are (and the fact it's still going strong) one of the reasons she's never replaced it.

Found the receipt for it a few years back, it cost her £300!

Our Panasonic dates back to the mid eighties.  How do you destroy something like that?

    I think you're overthinking this.

Just walk into Tesco, buy a microwave oven. Go home.
