I don't like the Hiscox case shape how it is flat on one side. I've got a few genuine G&G Fender cases which are OK, just with the Aerodyne it doesn't hold it securely. I have thermometer cases from years back which hold the body so stops it moving around inside, so I want to get another thermometer. I seen a few Fender ones come up on Reverb but already sold.
If I find a good after market one I'll be OK with that. The cases are just for storing in the house mainly, not so much carrying out and about.
With regards to the OP's problem, UK consumer law gives pretty good protection for consumers, and you can make a small claims case for about £100 if your claim is under £3000, which I'm sure the OP's claim would be.
For £100 I would take my chances and pursue it all the way. The fact that he has the "I don't know" in writing from the company director says it all really.
If a product is faulty or has an inherent manufacturing defect, you have redress up to 6 years after purchase.
I can't see how it wouldn't come under "not fit for purpose" as it is sold as a protective case for a Gibson LP, and Nitro is a common Gibson finish.
I can understand people thinking it is too much hassle to go through, but I can't understand why so many people are saying to suck it up and sort it out yourself and put it down to experience.
Like Snark do, they have a written warning with the product not to use it on Nitro, and FW should have done the same thing to cover their asses in situations like this.
I would say take some screenshots from the FW website to show there are no warnings about Nitro, and the email you received is basically an admission that the company "do not know" if it is safe for a Nitro guitar. You have suffered a loss and should be compensated.
Plenty things that come from China have restricted chemicals in them that are prohibited for sale in the UK, and they get picked up by customs and then destroyed. I would take a look on Alibaba and see if you can track the manufacturer down and see if there is an ROHS document. It should be easy enough matching the pictures of cases with the case you have. It will be mass produced and probably cost FW $10, and that will include the "Tiger" badge.
If it was me I wouldn't accept it, just out of principle.
And it would be kinda fun too.
miserneil- I don't know why you think that I am the OP nibs, but take your tin foil hat off- It might have reacted with your brain and made you think that I am the original poster in disguise.
Good luck.. and Go For It...
Snark can afford to tell people not to leave the tuner on the guitar all the time without losing sales - nobody would risk buying a guitar case with the same disclaimer.
Sounds like you are in favour of a company not informing their customers that there could be a potential problem with a product because you would rather they kept quiet so they can make more sales?
A company cannot mitigate losing sales by failing to carry out due diligence.
Both are guitar accessories. Both come into contact with the guitar's finish.
Snark have the sense to put the disclaimer on their product, FW don't.
The FW case is specifically designed for a Gibson LP. LP's are typically Nitro.
It's really not that complicated to work out that FW have been careless.
We now know that obviously the case should have had a disclaimer, because a component inside the case is not compatible with Nitro and it caused a chemical reaction.
If you buy a product from a specialist supplier you should not have to "risk" that it will dissolve your guitar finish or have any other adverse effect on it.
Maybe Marlboro could argue that they are exempt from putting a health warning on their cigarettes because they cannot afford to lose sales.
I think ‘username’ has certainly taken the ‘forum entrance of the week award’.

The Spider cases I’ve used however, have latches and hinges made of cheese. As far as I’m aware, they are not made ‘in house’ by FCW, just badged as Spider by them and re-sold. This could be totally wrong but it’s how I understood it to be.

Thanks for the free passive/aggressive "LOL" "P90 fool"
I value it so much I'll get a special case from FW to store it in and maybe it will dissolve away like the OP's nitro finish...
You think that one post encompasses "an entire outlook on business practices" ?
You are wrong when you say I was "reassuring you" .
You are correct when you say I was "patronising" you.
The most boring comment on a thread on FB resurfaces once more.....ffs
There.. I fixed that for you...
This is going to end well.
I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
