I'm sure that if someone other than Donald Trump had come out with "bigly", we'd all be using the word by now.

The real evolution of the English language is text-speak. The problem is that most folk who actually took the time to learn the English language refuse to use it.

Oh, Pip. I  heareth what thou art saying but I just can't concur, for without evolution, we would still beest speaking like this. A whole forum full of this shite would beest lacking valor.

The French have https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Académie_française so they choose how and if their language evolves - so since 1803 there has been very little change... Only when words are necessary from other languages are they allowed...

Maybe we should set up such a system... Stephen Fry as our first Immortal?
