Amp covers - which one to get?

What's Hot

Just want a bit of protection for my Vibrolux when lugging it around to stop it picking up bumps, bruises and tears. Which one's worth getting?

I understand that you can get some properly nice bespoke covers but if I'm spending close to or over £100, I'll probably go the road case route.

Hot covers or Roq-solid. Both will give prices on their websites.

    Hot covers or Roq-solid.
Do you have experiences with either? Or a preference?

I’ve used both. The Roq-solid ones have options for just a dust cover (tough fabric though) or you can add extra padding. You also choose the colours and can have extra pockets.

Hot Cover are padded and a sort of faux leather type material. Tends to hold it’s shape quite well so if it’s for a combo it’s tricky to fold it down when you’re gigging. That’s the only real downside to those.

    Both are good products.

Hotcovers do the cloth type as well now, and I think Roqsolid also do the leather type!

    Roqsolid every time. Excellent people!
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

All my amps are in hotcovers vinyl covers, heads, combos and cabs. Always had good service from them and their covers have been spot on, wear well and have decent padding.

Agreed. Spec the standard felt lining, not the foam.

Just wasn’t very impressed with the foam... it’s not worth the up charge over felt in my opinion.

It’s probably worth mentioning its been a while since I’ve bought one, so they may have changed the foam recipe, so to speak.

The RoqSolids look right (despite the weird guy in the white coat doing the videos - when did people stop bothering with pictures and text in favour of green screens and iMovie?  :s ) but I'm torn between felt/foam and whether or not I need a pocket. If I can get exact measurements for the pocket (so I know it will fit a step that folds flat), I'd go for that.

Felt is much better than foam in my opinion. It’s harder wearing and doesn’t protect any less well.

Realistically neither are going to protect against a direct hard knock, you need a flight case for that, which will be both more heavy and more expensive.

I do like that the standard Roqsolid covers fold more easily. I get them for my cabs. For heads sometimes I get the hot covers one as it just seems like it might be a bit better for where the knobs on the amp are.

There’s nothing obvious between the two for quality as far as I can tell.
