You were in the house when this happened? That's the most surprising thing, that folk can get in your house and pull your stuff (not just small stuff either) and not wake you up. We've had a couple of back door thieves round my way in the past and it worries me. I think my big fence and hard to open gate puts them off but next door got targeted.
Do you know how they got in? Do you have multipoint locks on your door?

Thanks a lot everyone. Up to nearly 1000 shares on Facebook so hopefully get them back. I’m especially attached to the guitars. I reckon the Larrivee will be hard to shift. Not exactly a common guitar like the Strat or lp.
