Paulownia is super light but very soft indeed. I'm still tempted to try it for a body though

Definitely try it, my friend has already used it and he's making another one now

I've got a PRS Mira X with, I think, an obeche body (although PRS called it "African basswood" at the time).

It is very light - almost too light, even for me.  It's like a Parker Fly or something, about 5 pounds.

And it does seem to be soft.  It has a strange large-but-shallow dent on the side which was there when I got it.... it looks like it got dented by a marshmallow, the dent's visible but the paint isn't cracked or marked.  I assume if the wood was harder either the finish would have cracked or there'd be no visible damage at all.

The obeche I'm using is more like my old growth limba which is on the softer side but will still hold up well, especially with finish on it, I've used it alot

New models are coming along, this will get glued in tomorrow, this weighs 6lb at the moment and it's difficult coming back from lightweight and comfortable to play anything else

No idea he always just winds something different for himself, I'll post up the finished look, been waiting for the parts

It's figured English ash, I've got another piece that'll do a carved top, looks lovely, it's getting a burst

Necks been screwed in, sorry don't do those anymore lol, hot hide glue on my set neck builds, I've sculpted the back got rid of any lumps I don't like and the heel, my hand fits like a glove now, it's really nice, zirocote fretboard is getting glued on tomorrow hopefully

I went to Darren's place a while back and he showed some of his fretboard blanks etc and it's easy to tell how good his stocks are.

We're strung up, neck definitely needs tweaking and I'll finish the machine work next week, the other one is coming very soon
