This is a very limited run of one only, never building another one, it's a firebird 1 build for a customer/friend.
It's mostly vintage spec apart from I used a 2 way truss rod which keeps more meat on the headstock and butt jointed wings.
There are no plans for these so I had to copy a friend's gibson firebird 1.
It'll be finished by end of January, it's getting nicely aged.

We have a reverse firebird, these mojo pickups are spectacular and becoming a favourite of mine, just a truss rod cover and strap buttons to finish it then it's off to a new home
Looks rather nice next to my 3x10.

I'm blown away by how good this firebird sounds, playing is by Ramon Goose whose a superb player.
He came over so I could sort his strat out so I put him to work, fantastic playing and I'm blown away by how good this thing sounds, I feel a pugilist version is needed.
    My 3x10 sounded fantastic.

Semi hollow carved top using flamed English and flamed maple which has staining but customer said keep it, it'll look good when it's finished.

Here's a new model I'm working on, this is set neck slightly bigger offset than my pugilist, gibson scale length, this one is an alder body mahogany neck with 3 single coils, trem and it'll get a blend circuit.
Also a prototype 2 way truss rod but built like a vintage one with a maple filler strip
The idea being mix woods pickups and hardware, an all mahogany version would be nice with a trem.

My version of a custom is nearly done, lighter weight, thinner and fully sculpted, it'll be 7.5lbs ish hopefully.

Custom looks awesome - love that combo of pickups - Staples in the neck are just magic :)

Yep all aged and I've got a thinner burst next that's getting the whole treatment, I want these to look like proper old ones from the front but fully sculpted on the back
I've got mojo old wire pafs going in the burst

It's alive but needs pickup heights adjusted then just pickguard, backplates and truss rod cover to make and I'm done.
    Love the pickups so far

Yeah it is! Missed this post the other day. I do love my Custom but it is nearly 11lbs. This looks like a much more sensible way to do it. The headstock is better too. Superb

11lbs is just ridiculous, I wouldn't even want 9lb now, if you're going to Bristol come and have a go

I'm doing Marc at mojo pickups a full on 55 replica, I've got an original 60 headstock veneer to copy too, it's one off and that might weigh 8.5 ish pounds but I picked the lightest body blank and used a lightweight mahogany cap to control weight, I'm still drilling the wiring channel like an original.
