E.T. and Return of the Jedi are the first I actually remember.

Then Ghostbusters is pretty much next.

Bambi, it was re-released in 1966 and I cried when his mum died. I was 7 at the time but I remember it quite well.
The Granada Cinema in St Peters Hill Grantham is now long gone.

First that sticks in my mind is Beatles Yellow Submarine but I think I'd been prior to that, maybe Mary Poppins. I remember my dad taking me out of school one afternoon to go and see the Battle of Britain movie, I was more impressed by him turning up at school unannounced and taking me out of class than I was by the movie.

Star Wars in 1977 aged 5 although I don’t remember too much about it. I do remember Grease a year later though the cinema was so packed that we sat on upturned beer crates in the aisle, pre health and safety of course!

Star Wars - A New Hope probably.
I hope that when you saw it, it was just called Star Wars :).

    It still is for me...

I think it was Star Wars with my parents but the one that sticks in my memory is Convoy.
It was my friends 8th birthday party so about 10 of us went to see it. Not entirely sure it was appropriate for 7/8 year olds.
Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

Back To The Future Part 3

I love the whole trilogy nowadays but as a six year old I fell asleep after about ten minutes and woke up at the very end.

Showing my age here, as a nipper I went to Saturday morning flicks, so I saw several films, but my earliest memory is The Incredible Journey, I've wanted an English Bull Terrier ever since........fostered a deaf one and had a brain damage puppy, that had to be PTS, so haven't realised that dream....never will now as the pink one won't have another......
1 shilling (5p) to get in and 1 shilling (5p) for an ice cream at intermission!
Intermission, who remembers them? With a Lady at the front wearing  a tray with Ice Cream Tubs, Wafer Sandwiches and Lollies?

My parents didn't do cinema, so I think it was Back to Future when I was in my teens.

I think it was Bambi in the early 80s. But maybe ET. Either way, early eighties. Can't say it ignited a passion for cinema. I like a film but would much rather watch it at home in comfort away from other people.

  • Return of the Jedi, my best mates mum took us, I would have been about 6.

Sadly its one of my earliest memories because I was hit by a car a few months prior that resulted in brain damage and wiped the slate clean!
