The 500 is a great little thing, apart from the backache you'll get from driving a car designed for sub-5'6" women.. I don't know if the Abarth version has more adjustment, but it was the relative pedal and gear lever placement that did for me. Fun to drive otherwise.

Get Abarth 500 or something ?

You can get them easily for under £6k now.  It's interesting, it is petrol, it sits 4 people (at a push) and visibility is not bad in them.

You can get four midgets in them, our singer has one. She's 4'11" and has her seat all the way forward, and here's me and my missus sat behind her.

Visibility is excellent, especially when I drive it, though goggles would be a bonus...

To be honest, if he was considering a 2 seater MX-5 before then the extra 2 seats in the 500 Abarth is a plus, not a negative. Even if it is tiny.

It is a shape that is still modern, not changed much so not out of date.  It has been out a while now so a used one can be had within budget, it is not a car that boy racers naturally lean towards so if Emp is afraid of that, then statistically it is less of a chance,  It's small, easy to park, economy is fine, it is petrol and it handles well and fun.

Test drove an Abarth 595. Worst car I've ever driven but I am 6'2".
Fiesta ST mk7 beats it in pretty much every way apart from sound.

Most likely car Emp will end up with when he finally makes his mind up and buys one:

Don't know about the Abarth version, but my inlaws had a Fiat 500 for a few months. If ever a car could be summed up as horibble, nasty, rattly cheap tin can it was their 500. Felt way inferior in build and solidity to the 5 year old Nissan Micra it had replaced. They chopped it in after several months because they they grew to hate it so much and found it horrible for any long distance journeys.

Right (again!)...  I’ve been searching for a post-2013 shape Civic in white, but I can’t find any that are anywhere near me, so... either I wait until next weekend (yes, I did hear that collective groan!) to catch a train up somewhere to get one, or....  I buy a local Kia Pro-Ceed.  There are two near me, one red, one silver.  I’d prefer white, and with a Honda badge but needs must.  In theory, I could use public transport to get to and from work, but it would be an hour each way including 25 minutes walking, for a 10 mile journey.  Still...  I could do that for a week if it meant getting a car that I’ve never driven before and am likely to change my mind about by Wednesday...

I think I’ve lost the will to live...and I thought I was bad!

Here’s the thing, if ever you do buy a car, how the hell are you gonna fill the massive void in your life that the absence of this car-buying journey will surely leave??!
