WTB: Something from 1965

What's Hot
MototechMototech Frets: 104
Hi folks, I'm looking for something from my birth year, 1965. This will depend entirely on my limited budget, so it is VERY unlikely to be anything mainstream, I've already spent all my money on 1959 & 1961 Gibson's.

It’s alright for you guys all born in the 60’s! Just spare a thought for all of us born in the 70’s, (71’ if you have a nice 4 bolt Strat) trying to find something that’s any good other than for firewood

How limited is your limited budget?  If you've been buying 1959 and 1961 Gibsons I'm assuming you're not Bob Cratchit.

Much cheaper for 70s firewood though, I'm a 74 model, went amp instead got a silverface champ.

    MrsTheWeary - March 1965.
I won't extend the joke any further than that for fear for my own life.

There are 65 reissues out there ( strats I'm sure at least) , you'd probably get a more useable guitar following that route as well.

    Good suggestion.

I think things like Melody Makers are still relatively cheap, although I don't follow the vintage market.  Maybe one which has been modded a bit?

@Philly_Q I've just bought a 61 Melody Maker & I got a 59 Les Paul Special DC last year, so nothing that broke the bank.

Ah, you won't be wanting another Melody Maker then... unless you're collecting all the different body shapes?

slightly randomly googling brought up that it looks like @Bridgehouse owns or owned a 1965 Epiphone Olympic which was their equivalent of the Melody Maker.. I've seen a Wiltshire going for £3k so I guess one of these would be less than that and I much prefer the look of the Epis to the melody makers.

Hi, I have a Selmer Treble and Bass Tremelo 100 from 1965 and a Fenton Weill Hornet from late 64/65 - not a guitar but a lot less expensive!

I'm not against the idea of a Melody Maker, I could sell the other one handy enough.

If you're thinking about Gibsons, I'd smudge the year to 64 for the wider nut.

If you decide to do that, let me know ;)

That's a stunner, but more than I could justify, unfortunately.
