Christ on a bike!!! For the money you'd fork out on that you could buy a rather tasteful Mondaine Stop2Go, and still have money left over for that trip to Specsavers you've obviously been putting off.
The Hamilton looks odd compared to other watches in this thread but that's what I like. Reminds me of something out of a 50's sci-fi b movie.
Mondaine? Yeah, nice, but they are everyday ordinary IMO, nothing special. The Ventura is the total opposite. I dont think you'd ever get tired of looking at it.
This is nice too
Go for it.
Nice vintage trio.
Normally I change my own watch batteries , but due to a screw with a dodgy head, a situation I didn`t want to make any worse , I just got charged £21 to have one replaced in my favourite Mondaine .Without a battery it just sits in a drawer ,useless ( although it is correct twice a day) so it had to be done ,but I was stunned at the price.
I bought my own tools to replace batteries myself after getting charged £12 a few years ago , but £21 ,shocking.
Get this though - my wife has a Raymond Weil watch, which cost a few grand. THe battery replacement on that was £180.
Omega will charge you the same. They argue it also includes a bit of a service and changing the seals etc, but that sort of charge really is a con.
Hopefully they do as it was a birthday present that was bought for me on my first trip to Florida. They're hard to find now too.
I think they wanted me to go for the "lifetime replacement" deal at £27 , which sounds ok , but am I really going to go back every year to make it worthwhile , and for how many years , and how long will I have the watch anyway? .
The main reason I chose the place was the dodgy screw head ( my bad btw) ,and its a specialist watch repair shop , whereas some cowboy store might have made it worse , and I didn't fancy trying to get one of those tiny screws drilled out.
The £2.99 inc postage , "fake chronograph" watch , I bought from China about a month ago , is still keeping perfect time , and I still can`t decide whether to be impressed or annoyed , LOL.
Maybe thats a lesson learned , but its one I didn't want to learn.
very nice, Swatch are a very cool brand IMO and they quite probably saved the Swiss watch industry. I have a first edition Swatch from the early 80s somewhere. 1983 I think, could be 82, can't remember.
