Blimey I thought I was the only one who thought that. He did a home gig here in Bath 2 years ago also and I had to say it was the worse guitar sound I have ever heard. To think that that is his main instrument I was quite shocked to be honest.  As you say it would’ve been his amp. Guitars never make a sound like that even crap ones
