Hollowbodies - any others worth checking out?

Hi,
Im looking for a hollowbody guitar as a "significant birthday" present to myself. Ive defined a few criteria that I want in any guitar and the new PRS SE Hollowbody II's meet most of those.

https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/se_hollowbody_ii_2020

Ive checked them out and apart from taking the gloss off the neck were great, though the setup was a bit high and the sample I tried had a mismatched top (no where near the grain of the image below)- I'd probably go for non maple topped version.

Are there any guitars worth checking out that meet this criteria:-

1) Good neck access so playing A min Pent at the 17-20 frets is easy (Rules out most Gibsons and Gretches)
2) Linked to above - strap button in sensible place - not behind the neck where Id put my hands playing at 17th fret.
3) Non varnished fretboard (rules out maple boards)
4) Satin neck (or oiled wood finish)
5) No gold hardware
6) Fixed bridge
7) Not too deep - easy to play seated and standing.

Im not super keen on binding (as it makes rolling the fretboard edges tricky), but they all seem to come with that.

Any advice on alternatives? Cheers.

Check out my ES 390 for sale. It's a beauty...

Edit - I didn't read the full post, sorry. Probably not for you.

  • Had an inkling for a thin line strat a la the Eric Johnson one so was designing one on the Warmoth website last night and came out almost exactly like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-USA-Custom-Shop-Artisan-Thinline-KOA-Stratotaster/174106732206?hash=item288991e6ae:g:HbsAAOSwJRld3AZV

What’s wrong with a 335-type, barring the heel button placement? I certainly don’t have any issues accessing the dusty end on them’

Nice, but Ive a great thinline PRS Vela satin with reclaimed wood so wanted a full hollowbody to satisfy my Black Crowes wannabe urges, just looking for the least compromised vs my usual guitar wish list.

Aren't 335's semi-hollow? If you want full hollow probably not a good fit. If you want a semi (ahem) then you're welcome to give my Guild a try next time we're together - similar dimensions to a 335, although obviously a very different guitar.

I think I want hollow with possibly a block under the bridge, I think some have a solid central block from neck to bridge. I don’t want one with a small hollow area on one the upper bout only that looks good but doesn’t add much to the sound. Lots of research to do I think!

  • I’m still in the honeymoon period with my Gretsch 5655gt junior. It’s a slinky Les Paul sized hollow body with a centre block

You do need another guitar, lets face it.
When I looked at 335s I checked out Ibanez range of 335ish alikes. I thought they played really nicely. If you're looking at 335s make sure to try a 339, smaller cousin of 335 and nearer your PRS example.

Prs Hollowbody SE really hard to argue with that choice they have done a bang up job I was just listening to some of the demo nice range of tones.

that said HB2 is in its case at the moment and the Little Sister Crossroads is the semi of the moment.

Something else just prompted me to go look at the Musicstreet website. There's a disproportionate amount of wallet-emptying pre-loved hollowness there at the moment: porn here
