I can't help but like him.
I like him too, but his mods are still butchery.

Wouldn't a narrow necked guitar accomplish the same thing?

His thing is making guitars suitable for people with “sausage fingers” who can’t cope with a narrow necks. He converts 7 string guitars into 6 stringers, but his workmanship is errrr, interesting.

The guy has some pretty wacky ideas which some people actually like as he manages to sell quite a few of his terrible conversions. One day he might come up with a great idea. I just hope he takes out a patent on it before unleashing it on the world.

Do we really need another thread sticking it to Mr. Pnillips? Surely it's been done to death.

Yes. Yes, we do. Keep 'em coming, I need cheering up. =)
I'm not sure cheering up is the right phrase but I'm pretty sure @aguitaraday on Instagram will give you your fix...

Can we please start one of those petitions to Downing Street for him to take micawber and convert it to a 5 string for Keef

I've got an idea. If you used a sander to put fret spaced notches in the back of the neck then that would create a tactile positioning aid. A facility that would aid beginner and virtuoso alike.

Can anyone help with patenting before Mr. Cleartone steals my idea?

If it's for your thumb then why has he done both sides of the neck?
Incase you have two or more thumbs.
Perhaps he's aiming towards the East Anglian market.

The part that mystifies me is that our hero is not working on commissioned instrument conversions. It is all speculative, in hopes of finding buyers via t’Interweb.
I've commissioned him to make me a scalloped back of the neck guitar for easy barre chords.

On the plus side, he must be one of the few makers (I hesitate to call him a luthier) not to worry about hooky Chinese rip-offs.

He should send one to Yngwie Malmsteen, he could be the next luthier to the stars.

He's missed a trick here...the thing to do is make a neck in two halves, with the bass side made of stress ball foam. That way a lightly applied thumb would glide along it, but it would give way when the thumb comes over the top to make a chord. Bloody simple.

You pinched my idea, now that'll scupper my plan to bring it to Dragons' Den  :#
