Equipment used once in a mix, can we tell?

What's Hot
Thinking about plug ins and real aps etc, and what we think we know about certain sounds.
I have posted 3 solos http://abbey104.com/play-it-again here just scroll down to where it says solo and you can download or play it. only about a 1.5 mins long for all three solos.
Have a guess on the equipment. For honesty I have sent Tony the answers.
Forget the bum notes, i'm hardly Eddie Van Halen.

I suppose this just shows, people don’t really know what guitar, is used once it’s in the mix. And if we can’t tell what guitar, how could we ever tell whether it’s vintage, or it has maple or rosewood, or it’s hollow bodied or solid.
Once it’s in the mix with everything going on, it’s the player that obviously makes the difference.

I recorded an album with a folk/country singer and one of the tracks called for a guitar solo with a tremolo effect, in the style of the Everly Brothers. The guitar that ended up sounding best on the track was a Maverick Chaos, an entry-level guitar aimed at metal players!

    I’m going with.

    1) p90 lap steel type thing
    2) neck p90, could be hollowbody *edit jazz master type?
    3) strat middle.

    What’s the prize btw?

Wrong on all counts, but at least you had courage to have a go. Thank you.
Prize? Well let’s see, brand new air guitar with Air Bigsby?

    I'll play!

1 - bridge single coil. Strat or Tele but could be P90
    2 - Tele Neck
    3 - 2x humbuckers, middle position

One out of three right, would you like to narrow it down on number 1?

Hmm, my first instinct was strat bridge, so i'll go with that...?

Here, we don’t allow no Strat pickers in country music

Considering two sounds are pretty clean with minimal effects apart from reverb and compression, it’s surprising how difficult this is. And no one has even bothered with amps?

    Some factoids:
    1. There are a gazillion different combinations of guitar pickup selection and amp control settings.
    2. A further bazillion mics and placements.
    3. There is no guarantee that any of these sound the way we might expect them to.
    4. And that's without modelling boxes and plugins.

To the person who gets this 100% right first time, can you give me a random set of lottery numbers!

And yes, I know it's just for fun :)

Without relying on other people's guesses, I'd say:

    1. tele
    2. les paul
    3. strat on neck pickup

    Great playing! Really enjoyed it!
