Anyone else really loose with their plectrum?

What's Hot
Every bloody bit of footage I see of myself playing, I'm always adjusting my bloody plectrum! Constantly! It's like a nervous tick or something!?

Doesn't feel loose in my hand when I'm playing. Just pliable. But watching it is another thing!

Bye!

I've abandoned the plectrum all together recently. LP sounds a million times better without it. Much more woody and with a better snap.

Pick and finger is where it is at.
Yes I am loose, you can dynamically change your picking stroke and intensity that way.

Every professional out there, judging by the number of plectra I see stuck to mic stands.

Maybe it's time for a new product. Plectrum glue. "Plue" or "Glectrum". I'm not a marketing guy, but it's a solid idea.

I play with a tungsten pick with mother of pearl inlay.  £26 a piece.

They’re not easier to grip per se, you just keep a tighter hold  =)

I tried that, and realised that I couldn't put any nuances into my playing at all.
I know plenty of others can, but it highlighted to me how loosely I usually hold the pick when it suddenly couldn't move any more.

I can switch between funk rhythm and single note lead lines at will with a flat pick, but not a chance with a thumb pick.

It's exactly the same for me.

    It's not a competition.

I love a good plectrum scrape!! Sorry to boast but I once did a corker of one that I’m incredibly proud of before a solo, here at 1:57!

Great pick scrape and playing though. But on a point that possibly connects both threads, I make an adjustment and rotate my pick so the scrape is with the top of the pick, to avoid putting notches in the side of the pick close to where I pick.
    It's not a competition.

Yes! I wondered where it had gone! I posted it and looked for it, couldn’t find it and had to write it again! Silly me :)

Since moving up in size haven't dropped a plectrum at all AFAIK
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

I don't use them, they always felt unnatural to me and kept pinging away. Just using my fingers/nails for strumming feels sooooo right, and with guitar solos I feel more at one with the guitar. The down side is that my speed and accuracy is a tad lower on widdling, but I'm not really known for speed or accuracy in my playing - and it's only a tad different.
