    Thumb pick FTW
I tried that, and realised that I couldn't put any nuances into my playing at all.
I know plenty of others can, but it highlighted to me how loosely I usually hold the pick when it suddenly couldn't move any more.

I can switch between funk rhythm and single note lead lines at will with a flat pick, but not a chance with a thumb pick.
    I know what you mean.
They’re a bit more controllable if you shave it down a fair bit, and I wish thinner ones were available as they all tend to be very thick and stiff.
Great for hybrid picking stuff though.

I play too aggressively to not use a pick. Would do myself a mischief.

Maybe it's time for a new product. Plectrum glue. "Plue" or "Glectrum". I'm not a marketing guy, but it's a solid idea.

Been done - it's called Gorilla Snot of all things !  It works too.
    Time to sue, I think!

Yeah I vary how I hold my pic depending on what i'm playing. I see it as a good thing tbh rather than something that needs practiced out.

I double over a bit of masking tape and put it round the pick to stop me fiddling with the position!
